Where Stories Come to Life

Play It Up (A Literacy through Drama Program)

TEAC is excited to offer a dynamic Literacy Through Drama program for children and youth—a creative journey that blends storytelling, performance, and reflection. This engaging class helps participants build essential literacy and social-emotional skills while exploring core Christian values such as love, resilience, hope, and service.

Each session begins with calming mindfulness activities to promote focus, emotional regulation, and compassion, creating a positive and welcoming group environment that nurtures creativity and personal growth.

Participants will:

  • Explore a variety of literary forms including short stories, poems, and plays

  • Analyze and discuss texts to deepen understanding of language and themes like love, forgiveness, and compassion

  • Participate in fun drama games and acting exercises to boost confidence and communication

  •  Practice self-expression through writing original stories, poems, and monologues

  •  Share their creative work in a supportive, peer-centered space

  •  Reflect on Christian values and how they are expressed through words and actions

By the end of the program, students will walk away with stronger literacy and communication skills, a deeper sense of self, and the confidence to thrive—both in the classroom and in everyday life. – on and off the stage.
