My Artistic Journey & the Birth of Trinity Arts Center

Where It All Began

My love of the arts began with dance.

From a young age, my mom and aunties would remind me how I would sing and dance anywhere I could—especially in the salon while my mom got her hair done. That joy followed me into high school, where I was blessed to attend a school with both dance and musical theatre programs

I got a part-time job so I could afford formal training, and with encouragement from my teachers, I stepped into acting and singing. I started auditioning for leading roles, not just staying in the dance ensemble—and my passion for the arts deepened.

The Power of Storytelling

“Is this where their story ends? Who will tell their stories?”

During high school, I experienced the heartbreaking loss of a few classmates—friends whose lives ended far too soon. I couldn’t shake the question: Who will keep their stories alive?

That moment marked a turning point. It drew me deeper into acting—not just to perform, but to preserve the voices and memories of those we’ve lost.

Training & Awakening

After high school, I went on to study in the Theatre Performance Program at Humber College. There, I fell in love with collective creation—developing new works that reflected Canada’s true diversity.

But in the professional world, that diversity was hard to find.

Stages were often cast with predominantly white actors. If you were Black, Asian, or Indigenous, you were expected to find your way to a culturally specific company—while mainstream stages didn’t reflect our stories.

Creating Space

As a Black artist, I gravitated toward companies like b current, Obsidian Theatre,, and Piece of Mine Arts. These spaces nurtured my voice and gave me the confidence to create meaningful work.

I’m incredibly grateful for their influence. But even with that support, something still felt missing.

A Pause, A Calling

As life evolved, I stepped away from the arts to raise my children—and began a healing journey that led me to a personal relationship with Jesus.

Not religion. Not ritual. But a deep discovery of who I am in Him, and what He has called me to do with the gifts He’s placed in me.

The Birth of Trinity Arts Center

“A space where Christian artists don’t have to compromise to create.”

That journey birthed Trinity Arts Center—a place where:

Authentic and diverse stories can be shared—including the goodness of God.

Christian values are at the core of every show, class, and gathering.

Parents can confidently send their children to explore the arts and learn about the love of God—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Christian artists can create without compromising their beliefs.

My heart longed for a space like this—for myself as an artist, as a mother, for our community, and for the next generation.

For God’s Glory

With a burden on my heart and the leading of the Holy Spirit, Trinity Arts Center was born.

“This is just the beginning.”

My prayer is that this center will live far beyond me—that others will carry the vision forward and reclaim the arts and entertainment space for God’s glory.
